Job Seekers Hub | Why your recruiter should also be your coach
One of the skills needed to be a great recruiter is also to be a great coach.
When I say “coach”, I mean that in the broadest sense. One minute you are an interview coach, the next, you are a career coach, and sometimes you’re even a life coach.
Coaching comes in all shapes and sizes.
In an interview process, we aim for the candidate to do themselves justice and not slip through the net by letting themselves down in a minor area. It’s to give people a window into what to expect in the process and how to best prepare while explaining what to avoid.
A recruiter also needs to be a great career coach because, as a recruiter, you are not only guiding people towards the right role but also away from the wrong ones.
Ultimately, “coaching” is the bit that goes unseen but is also one of the most important pieces of the puzzle.
