Whether you’ve considered a career in recruitment, or you’re just downright curious of what we do all day – here’s your chance to get a sneak peek at the life of a recruiter.
One of our consultants shares what a typical day is like for him, although it’s important to note that no two days are ever the same.
7:15 am – wake up, get ready for work, 30-minute commute to the office.
8:30 am – arrive at the office.
8:30 am to 9:30 am – review applications, respond to candidate emails, and shortlist candidates to be called later in the day.
9:30 am to 10 am – jump on LinkedIn to respond to messages and send out inmails to prospective candidates and clients.
10 am to 11:30 am – review our other databases to search for candidates and compile a list of who to call later in the afternoon.
11:30 am to 12:30 pm – blitz hour to call candidates (typically a good time to reach them is during lunch). He also checks in with his candidates who are interviewing that day and coaches those who have upcoming interviews.
12:30 pm to 1:30 pm – eat lunch, or interview candidates – depends on how busy the day is.
1:30 pm to 3 pm – call back any clients he couldn’t get a hold of, call clients to check-in how interviews went, write job ads and try to get a hold of job descriptions from HR Managers for upcoming roles.
3 pm to 5 pm – focuses on business development. Sets up meetings with warm leads, and occasionally cold calling new organisations.
5 pm to 5:30 pm – post active jobs and completes general admin tasks.
5:30 pm+ – answering any candidate calls that need to be taken after work hours.
In between all that, he’s in team meetings, delivering good news (sometimes not good news) and occasionally playing table tennis amongst teammates.
