At Pulse Recruitment, we’re always staying at the forefront of industry trends and advancements. Recently, I sparked an interesting conversation on LinkedIn regarding the role of AI in recruitment. So… I would like to delve deeper into this topic.

AI has rapidly progressed to the point where it can effectively manage significant aspects of the recruitment process. It’s not far-fetched to imagine a future where AI algorithms alone make the final decision in hiring processes. Some argue that such a shift could actually create a fairer process by eliminating human biases. However, the question that arises is: would you trust an advanced AI model to determine whether you’re hired or not?

I posed this question to my LinkedIn community. Out of those who participated, 85% expressed reservations about relying solely on an AI model for hiring decisions, while 15% were open to the idea. This sentiment reflects the complex relationship between humans and technology in recruitment.

While AI undoubtedly offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency, data analysis, and process automation, it raises important ethical considerations. The potential for unconscious biases to be eliminated from the decision-making process is compelling. However, the fear of losing the human touch and the ability to evaluate intangible qualities remains prevalent.

I firmly believe in striking a balance between leveraging technology and preserving the human element in recruitment. While AI can streamline processes and augment decision-making, you have to recognise the invaluable contributions that human intuition, empathy, and contextual understanding bring to the table. For us, our commitment to providing a personalised, authentic experience for our clients and candidates is at the core of our approach – something AI can never take away.
