Employers Hub | Now might be the time to consider hiring 100% remote
In investing, there is a saying that goes something along the lines of, “it’s not timing the market; it’s time in the market.”
I continue to discover parallels to that saying in the world of sales recruitment.
My 17+ years of recruiting has led me to build a sizable network. Relationships have been forged regardless of whether I placed a candidate in a job or not, and I’ve gone on a growth journey alongside our clients.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, it’s now abundantly clear that we have a significant shortage of tech sales talent in Australia as demand continues to outstrip supply.
The amount of capital flowing into Australia scaleups is at record levels. An increase in digital adoption and an increase in overseas companies entering the Australian market are some of the factors fuelling this demand.
So, the problem is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future anyway, and the likelihood is that it will only get worse into 2022.
As a result of these market conditions, I’m talking to more and more employers who are now open to hiring talent from inter-state and having them onboarded and working 100% remotely.
By doing this, you immediately open up the talent pool from outside of your location. Also, for companies hiring in Sydney and Melbourne, the opportunity to combat rising salaries by hiring someone in, say, Brisbane, where salary expectations are lower, is also an incentive.
It’s all food for thought as the most successful sales teams can often adapt the quickest to the circumstances that they find themselves in.
