Next up on our ‘Pulse Gets Personal’ is our good pal Laura Bury. She’s known in the office for her good style, her hybrid Scottish/English accent, and her mean upper cut punch when we do team boxing in the Domain. Laura joined our team earlier this year and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board. Read her full story below!
Tell us your story of how you got into recruitment: My brother works in recruiting and his job always sounded really interesting. I think it’s a great career as it gives you exposure as to what jobs exist and what people do for a living. After graduating, I moved to Sydney from Scotland with the vision of working in recruitment.
First job: In a clothing store
What inspires you to go to work every day? The people and atmosphere at Pulse. My job allows me to easily measure my achievements, which is a huge motivator.
Career achievements: Moving abroad and finding full-time work is a major milestone. I’m also proud of recently bringing on a new major TV network company as a client.

How you spend your spare time: Eating my way around Sydney (Laura’s tip: Artichoke dip at Bondi Hardware). I also enjoy exercising and exploring new parts of Sydney (Laura’s tip: Nielsen Park!).

Dream travel destination (or favourite place you’ve been): Favourite place, Sydney (hence why I moved here) and dream place is Italy, preferably Tuscany.

What three things can you not live without? Friends, food and my hair straightener
Who’s your idol (and why?): My brother Tom who lives in Hong Kong. He’s achieved a lot in his career and he’s really driven. Plus, he’s the one who got me into recruiting.
Do you have any hidden talents? I can make a mean food belly.
What makes you the happiest? Laughing uncontrollably with my friends.
Name one cool thing on your bucket list: Traveling to Iceland.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever heard (or been given): Don’t let someone tell you you’ve done something wrong, if they haven’t told you how to do it right.
